Suppliers and groups

A supplier in Tierline is a TTB permit holder: the company that files labels, whether it makes, owns or imports the brands. A supplier group, one of the big wine, beer or spirits companies, gathers every permit whose holder’s names match it. Every supplier link in Tierline opens one of these pages.

A supplier group's page in Tierline's demo: a tile map of where its brands are registered, shaded by how many, with Texas chosen and a panel listing the distributors there that carry its brands, each with the brands it has.

How to read it

  1. 1.

Where its brands are registered: how many of its brands, in how many of the states we read, with how many distributors.

  2. 2.

The map, shaded by how many of its brands each state has. A state we don’t read is dashed and says “not read”, never zero. Choose a state with a tap, a click or the arrow keys.

  3. 3.

The chosen state: the distributors carrying its brands, each with the brands it has, then all its brands there. It opens on your home state when the supplier’s brands are there.

What to do here

  • Choose your next distributor

Open a supplier like yours, choose your state, and see who carries its brands there.

  • Keep an eye on a competitor

Press Follow beside its name: your briefing tells you when it files a label.

Good to know

  • Every state as a table, under the map, lists the same for every state, and the states we don’t read.
  • Further down: its footprint in figures (brands of its own, states, distributors, brand moves in the last 12 months), the distributors with the most of its brands, the newest registrations, its brands moving between wholesalers, and its active labels with their pictures.
  • A supplier’s own brands are those it filed at least a fifth of the labels of, or the newest label, so a contract bottler’s few labels don’t make a brand its own.
  • Major suppliers, under More in the menu, lists the big supplier groups.
